2009 Press Releases

There is a new hotel name in town - Cascadia Hotel & Suites Celebrates the West Coast in the Heart of Vancouver, BC.

VANCOUVER, BC (February 21, 2009) - Silverbirch Hotels & Resorts has unveiled its rebranding of the Marriott Residence Inn in downtown Vancouver as Cascadia Hotel & Suites, a name the company feels reflects the hotel's central location and pays homage to the West Coast lifestyle where the living is easy and stylish and the excitement of a vibrant city is just outside your door.

The name "Cascadia" was chosen to celebrate the Cascade Mountain Range, which extends from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. The Cascadia region is also directly connected with the Pacific Northwest, the home of many of the hotel's long time guests.

"We wanted a name that is distinctive, positive, has depth and energy and celebrates the hotel's sense of place" says SilverBirch Hotels & Resort's COO, Robert Pratt. "Cascadia is a name that is easy to remember and positions us firmly as a West Coast, Vancouver hotel. Over the next few months you will see us subtly change the look and feel of the hotel to reflect our West Coast nature and celebrate the beauty of the city."

Now operating as an independent hotel, the 200- room Cascadia Hotel & Suites will continue to build a reputation for offering premium longer stay accommodations. It is distinguished by its elegantly modern studio suites with full kitchens, balconies, large work areas and ergonomic chairs, complimentary wireless and wired Internet access and Traveller's Rewards, a frequent guest rewards program. In addition to these exceptional facilities and amenities, the hotel also offers guests a complimentary hot breakfast buffet.

To re-introduce the popular hotel to long-time guests and visitors to Vancouver, Cascadia Hotel & Suites is offering a "Celebrate the West Coast" package and has partnered with Edible BC, a store located on Granville Island that is dedicated to showcasing the very best local artisan foods. The "Celebrate the West Coast" package starts from $179 and includes:

  • Overnight Accommodation for two including a hot breakfast
  • Dinner for two in MiBistro & Bar
  • An Edible BC welcome gift
  • An Edible BC $20 gift card

"Cascadia Hotel & Suites is in the heart of Vancouver - walking distance to the harbour ferries that take you to Granville Island and its iconic public market, steps away from Yaletown and a ten minute walk to BC Place Stadium and GM Place," says Director of Sales & Marketing, Judi Helfrich "Robson Street, the downtown shopping district and Vancouver's financial district are also within walking distance so we know we will continue to be a popular hotel for guests who want to experience everything Vancouver has to offer."

And, in keeping with SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts commitment to environmental sustainability for all of its hotels, Cascadia Hotel & Suites will maintain its designation as a four Green Key property, under the Hotel Association of Canada's (HAC) Green Key Eco-Rating Program property, inheriting a mature program that engages management, employees, guests and the public with a focus on energy and waste management.
